To be honest I am scared
I am not quite sure of what.
Perhaps I’ve lost all common sense
After all there is no evidence
To support these feelings
of dread
None the less
I am Scared,
Terrified!
Is he as sweet as he appears?
Or is he a monster underneath?
I’ve known my share of villains
Enough to know they all wear
masks.
Some use bright colorful visages.
They enchant you with marvels.
Incandescent lights of neon!
The effect is simple,
They blind the victim to the lack of substance
Other mask’s seem funny
In that innocent tone
That almost childish glare
But beware…
There is a monster underneath.
A slimy devil
Awaiting its moment
For as soon as your guard is down
He’ll make his move
He’ll feed on you: Your innocence.
There are countless masks,
And many monsters.
I am scared! I am terrified!
They are everywhere!
Of all the creatures in this world
There is nothing more infernal
Than the one with the candy mask.
The candy mask seemsperfect!
Its sweet, Its loving,
Its caring.
Or so it would seem
For bellow its virtuous façade
Lays a vile , vicious, visceral creature.
It likes to play
All sorts of twisted mind games
The heart
its favorite toy.
They enjoy it quite a lot
It fascinates them!
My guess
The lack of heart themselves.
They throw it
They stomp it
They kick it
They bend it till it snaps.
They grow bored once the heart is broken.
I’ve fallen victim countless times
The hypnotizing eyes
The oh so sweet words
All the moves strategically placed
To knock the reason out of you.
They lurk in every corner.
Rumor has it there are real men out there. Somewhere.
Not monster in disguise
Or villains on the pray
I’ve heard the tales of true men
How in the golden day they were all about
But I’ve yet to encounter such a man.
I am scared.
I’ve yet to learn the difference
Between monsters and men.
I am scared of the webs they spin And of the traps they set.
I am scared
for I can feel myself losing control
falling victim once again.
Is it a smile upon his face of an evil smirk ?
My gut tells me to run
My head implores me to not cave
... But oh! Damn this racing heart!
I guess I’ll risk it all
...One last time... Let us Play.
