Next week I am heading for my first business trip ever!!!
I like how it makes me sound very grown up.
I am really excited. But really nervous!
I never imagined myself on a business trip. I have absolutely no idea of what to expect.
I mean I sell tile. Not exactly something I ever thought would make me have to travel
I don't know why exactly I was asked to come to a business trip.
.
Its not like I get to make any decisions on the products we sell or anything.
In any case I like the idea of feeling grown up.
I am 27 years old I always imagined when I was younger that my life would be more together.
I had a life plan. The kind of plan you see people in movies make.
Finish college, work then maybe be discovered and become someone well known and respected.
And who knew maybe along the way meet a nice guy but the picket fence with the red door.
Get a dog or two. have four to six kids. then like a fairy tale live happily ever after.
Now, I know better.
Now I see how silly it is to have a life plan.
The truth is you can't plan life.
Life is a mean roller coaster that turns left when you thought it was going right,
Life plummets down in a second and all of a sudden you hear it laughing at your plans.
I am not complaining. I love where Life has taken me. For one I Trust God.
I have met people that I thought I would hate and instead ended up loving. I've met priests, and Engineers, and Heretics, Teachers and dentists and well all sorts of people who enrich my life.
I've learn things about my self, like how I can adjust to any job: From a front office assistant to a a semi-accountant.
Life showed me that sometimes clean breaks from people are healthier on the long run, even when letting go hurts like a billion burning embers crushing your chest.
Life thought me that people who love you will tell you the truth no matter how much it hurts, no matter how mad you get at them, if its true trust that its because they loved you, don't be blind and open your eyes.
I've also learned that Dr. Pepper is bad for you, Acne never ever disappears completely, Chewing gum is never attractive, best friends never leave, blood is thicker than water, everyone hates something about themselves, its hard to stay mad if you force a smile, old habits are hard to kill (like my nervous nail biting). People you trust will sometimes betray you trust me you'll get over it, we repeat the things we hate so let go and move on. Babies are cute but a hassle, birds will one day rebel against humans and peck our eyes out. Lasik isn't for me, I can not dance, i can not sing but I do both of them anyways. I love the cold but I am learning to appreciate the summer as well. Best Ice cream flavor is vanilla, best topping Sprinkles. Day dreaming is a good solution when stuck in traffic, (I've written alternative stories to The Walking Dead, Bones, Once upon a Time, etcetera). Never run from your mistakes, face them running only makes it worst. Things are better when in the right company, Sometimes you alone are the right company. Try everything at least once, except Drugs, Do NOT do Drugs. Never stop taking risks, never use uncomfortable shoes no matter how beautiful they are, remember you only have two feet, save money but splurge ever so often on a little whim, Enjoy the little things, Make a journal, but only with the happy things in life, it helps to read it on the low days.
Life has made it possible for me to me learn that the fairy tale ending isn't always as good as it seems.
After all a Fairy tale never tells you what happened after, Who knows maybe Cinderella still had to clean, and this time not a house but a palace! What if the seven dwarfs moved in with Snow White. did she have to serve 7 tiny men plus a full size prince? So many unanswered questions.
So now I make plans but I am fully opened to adjusting to anything that life throws.
I guess I am growing up.
When I was 7 I thought I'd already be a grown up by age 27 but I am not.
I mean maybe technically I am.
After all, I can Vote, I can Drink, I can play black Jack in a Casino,
but I still have a lot to figure out.
I guess I am still growing up.
So Are you all Grown up?
What have you learned, so far?
